Gramster Rant: When Christian Media Sells Out

Should we really be surprised that Christianity Today has become a mouthpiece for the leftist political agenda? A quick perusal of their social media and recent articles reveals an organization more concerned with protecting government funding than pursuing biblical truth.

Their manipulation tactics couldn't be more obvious. When Elon Musk and his team began examining USAID spending at the president's direction, Christianity Today immediately launched a pressure campaign. Their headlines paint a apocalyptic picture: Ukrainians freezing without aid money, the devastating "end of US Aid," and the audacious claim that transparency efforts amount to "wanting Jesus out of the way."

Let's be real about what's happening: They're bemoaning that people might die if we "don't just keep getting our pockets picked." Never mind that Ukraine has received more money than any other place on the globe from the United States government - hundreds of billions of dollars. Never mind that this money is coming from our grandchildren's future. Never mind that the church has always been able to take care of people in their midst as God moves and allows, since the beginning of the church.

What's most telling is their desperate response to simple transparency. When people start protesting too much, as Shakespeare would say, something's usually fishy. Christianity Today is maligning and mischaracterizing people who are simply trying to show us the books, portraying basic financial oversight as somehow evil or anti-Christian.

Here's what it really means when you say you're "on the take" while proclaiming the name of Christ: you've traded biblical integrity for government funding. If you're on the take in government, that's one thing. But if you're on the take while proclaiming the name of Christ? That's something entirely different.

The Christian industry is appalling, with Christianity Today at the tip of that spear. They've been taking money to push progressive narratives, and now we know why - it's always been about the money. This is what happens when Christian organizations set aside authentic biblical Christianity or simply add Jesus to what they've got going on - they become candidates for fake righteousness, trying to fill a void that only Jesus can truly fill.

Right On or Way Off?

"There is a Christian concept that you love your family, then you love your neighbor, then you love your community, then you love your fellow citizens, and then after that prioritize the rest of the world. A lot of the left has completely inverted that."

RIGHT ON!

The far left has eliminated biblical Christianity and understanding of God's patriarchy and purpose of being adopted into His family. They find their righteousness in fake places, putting global concerns above family and community. God designed us to work like ripples in a pond, with our priority love starting closest to us and moving outward. This creates authentic church community where there's true family love amongst people who were once strangers but are now family under the banner of the cross of Jesus Christ.

"The church is in trouble - that's what they say anyways. The problem is most of what they call the church is not the church. The church is not quite as in trouble as everyone thinks."

RIGHT ON!

The real authentic church is under Jesus's control, flowing through pastors to families with fathers at the head. There remains a large remnant in this country - the True Body of Christ. What people call the "visible Church" with its USAID funding and compromised institutions may be struggling, but the authentic church is just as strong as ever.

"I am told that Christians do not love each other. I am very sorry if that be true, but I rather doubt it, for I suspect that those who do not love each other are not Christians."

RIGHT ON!

This Charles Spurgeon quote points to the fundamental nature of Christian love. When Christians appear not to love each other, it likely indicates they aren't truly Christians at all. Just as Jesus said the world would know his disciples by their love for one another, the presence or absence of this love serves as a crucial indicator of authentic faith.

Final Thoughts: The Faithful Path Forward

The corruption of Christian institutions points to a deeper spiritual reality: the importance of a clean conscience and authentic faith. As discussed in a recent sermon on Romans 8, God remains faithful even when believers' consciences become seared, reaching out to bring His people back to Him. This divine persistence in restoration speaks to the core difference between authentic Christianity and institutional compromise.

The series on Joseph, particularly parts 9 and 10, dovetails perfectly with these themes of conscience and divine adoption. When we truly understand that we are adopted into God's family and are deeply valued and loved, it transforms how we resist temptation. We choose not to sin against God, prioritizing our relationship with Him over momentary pleasures or financial gain.

This understanding of conscience and conviction stands in stark contrast to the compromised positions we see in Christian media today. Where organizations like Christianity Today have allowed government funding to sear their conscience, individual believers and authentic churches continue to grow through God's sanctifying work.

For those seeking biblical truth in today's landscape:

  • Rely on prayer as your most powerful tool
  • Support independent Christian voices
  • Remember that authentic faith will always face pressure to compromise
  • Trust in God's faithfulness to preserve His remnant
  • Focus on growing in biblical truth and discernment

The path forward isn't about finding perfect Christian organizations or leaders - it's about remaining faithful to biblical principles while trusting God's work in our sanctification. When our consciences are aligned with His truth, we naturally resist the temptation to compromise for worldly gain or approval.

The key message remains clear: while many visible Christian institutions may be compromised by financial entanglements, God's authentic church continues to thrive through believers who prioritize biblical truth over worldly influence.
