The Growing Dangers of Artificial Intelligence

Nobel Prize winners are now sounding alarms about the technology they helped create. Jeffrey Hinton, known as the "Godfather of AI," and physicist John Hopfield earned recognition for their foundational discoveries enabling machine learning with artificial neural networks. Their 1980s breakthroughs paved the way for today's large language models like ChatGPT.

While AI offers tremendous benefits - from sharpening black hole images to providing turn-by-turn navigation - its creators worry about unchecked growth and societal disruption. Most concerning is who controls the information being fed into AI systems. Recent examples show political bias being programmed into AI assistants, highlighting the need for discernment.

Walking the Narrow Path Amid Cultural Chaos

Christians today face pressure from two dangerous extremes. On one side, the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) movement promotes false prophets and self-proclaimed apostles whose prophecies repeatedly fail. On the other side, deconstructionists and postmodernists constantly question and undermine biblical truth.

The solution is staying grounded in Scripture - Sola Scriptura - and walking the narrow way Jesus described. As Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 4:6-8:

"For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time for my departure is close. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. There is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me, but to all who have loved his appearing."

The Marxist Roots of Critical Theory

The influence of Marxist philosophy extends far beyond economics into modern social movements. Karl Marx established his tradition based on class struggle, which later manifested through Soviet communism under Lenin, Chinese communism under Mao, and various South American regimes.

Today's "diversity, equity and inclusion" (DEI) initiatives often sound virtuous but stem from critical theory - a Marxist framework examining power structures and oppression. While biblical diversity reflects heaven's multiethnic worship, DEI can become anti-biblical when twisted into relativism that denies absolute truth.

This ideology has infiltrated education, corporations, and even churches through:

  • Critical race theory
  • Feminist critical theory
  • Postcolonial critical theory
  • Queer theory

All share roots in Marxist tradition and deconstructionist philosophy that began as academic theories before becoming political movements.

Right On or Way Off?

"Do not try to make the gospel tasteful to carnal minds." RIGHT ON! As Charles Spurgeon warned, hiding the offense of the cross makes it ineffective. The true gospel isn't just "God loves you" - it's that we're in rebellion against God but He made a way for reconciliation through Christ.

"There should be a limit on movie reboots and sequels." RIGHT ON! While box office receipts naturally limit some franchises, the endless recycling of content - especially when "woke" producers deliberately undermine source material - suggests the need for creative boundaries.

"Going to a counselor when sad should be as normal as seeing a doctor for flu." WAY OFF! While Christian counseling has its place, running to therapy for every emotional challenge neglects biblical resources like the Psalms, prayer, and church community. As Isaiah 26:3 promises: "You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you."

The culture aims to make everyone a victim needing professional help. But for believers, Jesus Christ remains our ultimate counselor and source of peace.

Finding Hope in God's Word

In an era of growing cultural chaos, Christians must stay anchored in Scripture while engaging culture with truth and grace. Like Paul, we're called to pour ourselves out as drink offerings - giving everything for the gospel without compromise. The crown of righteousness awaits all who love Christ's appearing and stay faithful to His word.
