Cheerleader Game is Changing - Should We Care?

When a CEO and HR director panicked on Coldplay's kiss cam, they exposed moral relativism's fatal flaw. Despite claims that "wrong is just opinion," their shame proved we all recognize truth when confronted with it. Marriage isn't just between people, it's a sacred covenant with God.

Male Cheerleaders Acting Like Women: What It Reveals About Our Culture

Gramster Rant: The Feminization of Men

The Minnesota Vikings have introduced two male cheerleaders to their cheerleader team - Bla1 Chic and Lewis Khan. While they aren't the first biological males to cheer in the NFL (the Carolina Panthers had a trans cheerleader, Justine Lindsay, who joined in 2022), this development has sparked significant outrage among fans. Some have even turned in their season tickets in protest.

The controversy isn't about male cheerleaders themselves - George W. Bush was famously a male cheerleader in college. The problem is that these aren't traditional male cheerleaders. Traditional male cheerleaders played distinctly masculine roles - serving as the base for stunts, providing muscle for impressive pyramids, and often using their naturally booming voices with megaphones to lead the crowd. What we're seeing now is fundamentally different.

These men are attempting to fill feminine roles, complete with pompoms and movements traditionally performed by female cheerleaders. It's a visual example of what can only be described as "mansplaining" - men showing women how to do what women have traditionally done, as if they need instruction. It's offensive on so many levels.

This development reflects a broader cultural movement toward erasing the differences between men and women - what we call "androgyny." When society pushes for men and women to dress the same, work the same, and act the same, the distinctions between genders become increasingly blurred. This homogenization isn't accidental; it appears purposeful.

I was required to read George Orwell's "1984" in high school, which portrayed how erasing gender differences was part of a larger strategy to tear down romantic relationships, destroy the family unit, and ultimately restructure culture itself. The book spelled out where this leads - a society where male-female distinctions are deliberately obscured to serve authoritarian purposes.

For the Minnesota Vikings specifically, this represents a troubling shift. They once had Ragnar, a masculine Viking mascot who would ride his motorcycle onto the field, representing strength and warrior-like qualities. He has been replaced by these feminized male cheerleaders - a deliberate choice that speaks volumes about the direction of our culture.

Jordan Peterson famously warned: "If you think tough men are dangerous, wait till you see what weak men are capable of." The deliberate feminization of men creates weakness where there should be strength. From 2020 to 2024, we witnessed the deterioration of our society under weak leadership - not just in government, but in churches, broadcast companies, media outlets and other institutions.

A poll from The Flyover asked readers how they felt about the NFL allowing male cheerleaders. The results were telling: 43% were against it, 43% didn't care, and 14% were fine with it. That means the majority of people are going to be okay with it, either actively supporting it or through apathy. This apathy is perhaps the most concerning aspect - it's how cultural shifts happen without opposition.

As bad as things are going in the United States, there are other places in the world where the cultural deterioration is even further along. The UK is one example, where a shop owner named Rob Davies posted a sign in his window saying, "Due to scumbags shoplifting, please ask for assistance to open the cabinets." A passing police officer demanded he take it down, claiming it might offend people - though he couldn't specify who would be offended besides shoplifters themselves.

Both these stories - the male cheerleaders and the UK police officer - remind me of Romans 2:28-29: "A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly. And circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the spirit, not by the written code. Such a man's praise is not from men, but from God."

The male cheerleaders are only outwardly resembling women - they do not have the hearts of women. Just as the police officer wears the uniform but isn't truly serving and protecting, outward appearance doesn't change fundamental realities.

Science confirms these differences between men and women. When performing identical tasks, men and women use different parts of their brain. Women have smaller brains than men due to physical stature, while men's brains tend to shrink faster with age. Men and women respond differently to sounds and pitches - a crying child might barely register with a man while being extremely distressing to a woman nearby.

What's on the outside is not what determines what you are. It's what's going on on the inside that makes all the difference. This applies to our walk with Christ as well. There will be many who profess to be Christians, many who say "Lord, Lord." But it's what's going on inside that makes all the difference.

News and Views: Current Events Through a Biblical Lens

Ribeye Disaster

A tractor trailer carrying 40,000 pounds of ribeye steaks caught fire Monday on I-44 in Phillips County, Missouri, forcing a temporary highway closure and resulting in total loss of the meat. Firefighters put out the blaze, which locals jokingly called the best-smelling fire they'd ever seen.

This is just a terrible waste of steak. Ribeyes! Wow, I can't even afford ribeyes these days. The price of meat has skyrocketed - a package of four ribeyes at Costco that used to be $44 is now $84, though it's come down slightly to $72 recently. That's why many of us have started buying meat directly from local farmers - a half cow split with family members. You get ribeyes for about $3.60 a pound that way, and you know what the animal was fed.

Lost Wallet Miracle

A Michigan autoworker building a car lost his wallet in 2014. It was found this week under the hood of a Ford Edge at a Minnesota repair shop - 11 years and 151,000 miles later. This story reminds me of spiritual principles - it's like the parable of the lost wallet. The person thought it was lost forever, but it wasn't. Just as no person is lost forever - there's always a chance for anyone to find Jesus.

Life Can Change in an Instant

There's a viral video going around of two food influencers who were filming a review at a restaurant when a car crashed through the window right next to them. Fortunately, they weren't seriously injured, but it shows how quickly life can change on a dime. You're sitting there filming one moment, and the next moment, you could be standing before Jesus.

Right On or Way Off: "Did You Learn to Love?"

A false teacher claimed before he died that he had a vision of God. He said he was brought into the throne room and asked one question: "Did you learn to love?" And everybody's like, "Oh, that's so deep."

WAY OFF!

There's only going to be one question asked at judgment day, and that is: What did you do with my son Jesus Christ? Does Jesus know you? Does he claim you as his own?

When you hear people being taught that love is a replacement for Jesus, be very concerned. We had one of the biggest false prophets right in this area - Rob Bell, who ran Mars Hill Church. His big thing was "Love Wins." We printed bumper stickers that said "Jesus wins" because while God is love, He is equally a God of justice and righteousness and holiness.

Everyone already has a relationship with God - Satan has a relationship with God. What matters is having a reconciled relationship with God through Christ Jesus our Lord. When people say, "I have a relationship with Jesus," often it's a Jesus of their own creation - which means they have a relationship with themselves.

You can love all you want, but it doesn't count until after you're saved. There are people who have been married 40 years and don't know Jesus Christ as their personal savior. That love counts between them, but the only time love truly means something with God is after we become born again.

Love is probably the most misused four-letter word in the American language. True love - divine love - can only be understood through Jesus Christ. This doesn't mean human beings don't love each other, but there's a fundamental difference between human affection and divine love that flows from a reconciled relationship with God.

In a culture increasingly hostile to truth, we must be willing to speak out even when it's unpopular. When Rob Bell published "Love Wins" and promoted ideas that contradicted scripture, Chris called him a heretic on their radio show. They faced significant backlash, but they stood firm in defense of biblical truth.

Final Thoughts

One of the responsibilities of those who know the truth is to protect others from deception. When someone is teaching things that contradict scripture, if those who know better don't speak up, more people will walk off that bridge into falsehood.

As Garry noted, the Apostle Paul didn't shy away from confronting the Corinthian church when they were going off track. He loved them enough to tell them they were wrong. If men and women who know the truth don't speak up, they will be held accountable.

It's better to face criticism for speaking truth than to stand before Jesus and see disappointment in His eyes because you remained silent when you should have spoken. Criticism is part of life, especially for those in visible leadership positions. Having thick skin and being willing to face opposition for doing the right thing is essential.

You'll never look back and say, "I didn't work enough." You'll look back and say, "I could have spent a little more time with my loved ones or just recharging." But you'll never look back and say, "Oh, I just should have done more for Jesus."

Stay strong in the Lord until next week.
